5 paid ads mistakes that drain small business budgets
Boosting posts without a goal, sending traffic to the home page, and three other habits that keep campaigns from paying off.
Paid advertising can bring the right clients quickly, but only when it is planned. These are the mistakes we see most often when we audit campaigns.
1. Boosting posts without a goal
The “boost” button is convenient, but it optimizes for reach, not results. Start every campaign with one clear objective: leads, sales, bookings or visits.
2. Targeting everyone
A broad audience spends the budget on people who will never buy. Define the ideal client and build audiences around location, interests and behaviour.
3. Sending traffic to the home page
Each ad needs a page that continues the same message and makes the next step obvious.
4. Not tracking conversions
Without pixels and conversion events, you can’t know which ad really works. Measurement comes before scaling.
5. Changing everything too fast
Platforms need time and data to learn. Test one variable at a time and give each test enough budget to be meaningful.
